庭の小松菜を食べていた青虫は娘に見つけられ、虫かごの中で5日間ほど飼われていた。ある日3匹いたはずの青虫の姿が見えなくなった。探してみると、3匹は虫かごのフタの裏で蛹になっていた。
やがてほぼ同時に蛹は羽化しモンシロチョウがあらわれた。
娘はこのまま虫かごの中でチョウを飼育したかったようだが、親に説得されて、チョウを自然に返すことに同意した。
The caterpillars, which were eating komatsuna in the garden, were found by my daughter and kept in an insect cage for about five days. One day, the three caterpillars that were supposed to be there disappeared. When she looked for them, she found that they had turned into chrysalises behind the lid of the cage. Soon after, the pupae hatched at about the same time, revealing the white-fronted butterflies. The daughter wanted to keep the butterflies in the cage, but her parents persuaded her to return them to nature.
